Role Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, you will apply your knowledge and experience in the recruitment field to source and hire talented, creative and flexible individuals to meet the business needs of our organization. You will also support the delivery of corporate talent acquisition initiatives such as employee attraction, recruitment technology advancement and employee on-boarding processes. 


As a Recruitment Specialist your key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver the end-to-end recruitment process (source, screen, interview and qualify candidates for open positions within the organization);
  • Partner with the Human Resources Consultants to understand business needs and develop recruitment plans that will deliver quality talent and meet organizational expectations and timelines;
  • Work strategically with internal departments as a subject matter expert to drive recruitment initiatives and to assist in the resolution of recruitment-specific challenges;
  • Coach hiring managers through the hiring process and providing professional advice and guidance; support the skills development of hiring managers in the recruitment process by identifying skills gaps and delivering training programs, when required;
  • Leverage networking and recruiting events and professional associations to reinforce Medavie Blue Cross career opportunities and build strong relationships within relevant industry and recruitment communities, including post-secondary educational facilities;
  • Assist in the maintenance of an effective ‘talent bank’ by tracking candidate information, regularly updating candidate profiles and identifying future potential, as appropriate within the applicant tracking system capability; 
  • Assist in the delivery of the on-boarding process of new employees to the organization.


As the ideal candidate, you possess the following qualifications:

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in HR or related discipline, a CHRP designation or in the process of obtaining it is considered an asset;
  • 2 -5 years recruitment experience, using behavioural interviewing and a variety of sourcing techniques, including social media;
  • Relationship management skills with a passion for delivering great customer service to leaders, employees and candidates;
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with exceptional listening and interpretative skills allowing you to interact professionally with all levels of business personnel to build rapport;
  • Detail oriented with superior follow-up skills and proven ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast paced environment to obtain results;  along with solid problem solving skills and the ability to effectively negotiate and influence;
  • Exceptional knowledge of MS Office and strong computer skills; experience with an applicant tracking system is desirable
  •  An understanding of the employment market, trends and employment standards related to recruitment;
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset for this position.
