Role Summary:
As a true champion of Medavie Blue Cross’s award winning culture and values, the Manager HR Business Partnerships leads a team of talented HR Professionals who partner with our business leaders to help them grow and develop their organizations.  Working closely with the HR Team in multiple provinces, you provide expertise in coaching our leaders on leading their teams as well as navigating and resolving employee and labour relations issues. Your mandate includes putting our people first while, providing a clear and transparent focus to help our colleagues understand how people decisions get made. You will collaborate with the HR leaders in the Centres of Excellence for Rewards and Organization Development to find, grow and keep talent and build programs that help our colleagues thrive.
As a Manager, HR Business Partnerships, your key responsibilities will include:

Strategic HR Partnerships
  • Provide expert HR support as a strategic leader and trusted advisor to business clients by building strategic relationships with leaders to link HR strategy to short and long-range policy and operational issues and lead the tactical implementation. 
  • Partner proactively with internal customers to plan for future HR needs by anticipating trends and changes in the customers’ business and broader external markets. Monitor and analyze key financial, industry trends and HR data and formulates appropriate recommendations and insights that are aligned with business/financial strategy and rhythms.
  • Create and deploy innovative HR strategies in support of short and long-term business goals; translates strategies into operational goals and tactics; tailor HR levers, such as incentives and performance management, to align with value creation goals. Identifies unexpected people implications or risks based on HR and business strategies and develops and implements plans to manage people implications.
Employee/ Labour Relations
  • Recommend, implement, and support employee relations practice and initiatives necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale.  employee/labour relations issues.
  • Act as a key resource in managing labour relations and contract administration responsibilities, including; facilitating partnership with the union bargaining committee, participating in contract negotiations, and reviewing and resolving grievances. Provide senior level HR support to more complex labour relations issues.
  • Consult on creation of ‘best practises’ processes and procedures to simplify employee relations activities and create centralized repository of information that can be shared cross regionally to increase efficiency and consistency across all locations.
Coaching & Mentoring
  • Be a 'trusted advisor' act as a trusted sounding board for ideas, suggesting solutions and approaches, and appropriately questioning and 'pushing back' and challenging the business where necessary.
  • Coach the functional leadership team and line managers on key HR processes, programs and policies, and proactively support them in communicating, and administering these to leverage our HR programs to increase engagement and employee development.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to the Human Resources Consultants to grow and develop this talented team and leverage them across the business.
As the ideal candidate, you possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Business with major in HR preferred;
  • 10 plus years of progressive HR operations experience with a minimum of 5 years management experience leading teams across multiple locations;
  • 3 years of labour relations experience;
  • Significant knowledge of federal and provincial employment legislation and standards;
  • Highly proficient in all MS Office products; and
  • Fluency in English and French required
